The president of Dangote Refinery has said importers of fuel in Nigeria can continue to count their losses while Nigerians reap the benefits from cheaper petrol pump prices.
The billionaire businessman stated this during a briefing on Sunday at the 650,000-barrel-per-day refinery in Lagos.
Aliko Dangote stressed that the citizens remain at liberty to buy petrol and blended PMS at his refinery.
He said: “Nigerians have a choice to buy better quality fuel at a more affordable price or to buy blended PMS at a higher rate. Importers can continue to lose, so long as Nigerians benefit.”
Dangote added that, “Anyone who chooses to continue importing despite the availability of locally refined products should be prepared to face the consequences.”
According to him, the retail fuel price should not exceed N740 per liter nationwide.
Recall that, days before , the refinery has reduced its gantry fuel price by 15.99 percent to N699 per liter.
But, checks by our reporter, especially in Abuja revealed that fuel pump prices have remained between N905 and N937 per liter as at Sunday, even as some filling station attendants were seen charging as high as N200 per jerry cans for those who would normally have need to do so for household uses.
