The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, says it is ready to file charges against a suspect and two companies in connection with the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), in its avowed commitment to crackdown on terrorism financing in Nigeria.

This comes amid  enhanced collaboration between Nigerian authorities and the United States to distabilize financial networks linked to terrorist organisations.

A source at the EFCC told The Nation that the imminent charges are as a result of intelligence and investigations jointly conducted by Nigerian security agencies and their international partners.

The source said that, “The EFCC will soon file charges against a suspect and three companies linked with ISIS in the country. This is already concluded,” even as he added that the information recently made public by the United States was already known to Nigerian intelligence agencies.

It is hope that expeditious legal battle against terrorism and financiers will help placate Nigerians that government is resolved than ever to fight terror-related crimes in its muti- dimensional forma thereby help to mitigate the scourge, which has brought untold hardship lives and property.
