The 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME slated for Friday, April 19, JAMB has come with a warning to all the candidates to avoid bringing prohibited items into the examination halls.
JAMB, the examination body stressed that certain items were prohibited in order to ensure the sanctity and integrity of the board’s examination.
A statement signed by the registrar of the board, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, JAMB stressed its zero tolerance for examination offences and other unwholesome practices that could be detrimental to the conduct of the examinations.
JAMB said that any UTME candidates caught with prohibited items will not be permitted to take part in the examination.
UTME candidates are also advised candidates to desist from the practice of using decorative designs or tattoos on their palms as, according to JAMB, these can impact their biometric screening at the centre.
The list of prohibited items include smartwatches, smart lens (unprescribed glasses), calculators, smart rings, smart pens, bluetooth devices and flash drives.
The statement by JAMB said: “In this regard, candidates are warned to steer clear of all the prohibited items, which have been banned from the examination centres.
“These items have been noted to have aided some dishonest candidates in their quest to perpetrate examination malpractice, hence, the ban on these items is to protect the sanctity of the board’s examinations.
Parents warned…
Again, JAMB stated that parents are requested to refrain from being around the examination premises, as the board strictly prohibits them (parents) from being present during the examination.
It added that, any candidate found with a parent in the examination vicinity will be made to face penalties.
Finally, the examination body stated earlier that candidates are not to go to their examination centre with their registration slip.
It advised candidates to take either a photocopy or coloured copy of their examination slip reprint to their exam centre.
