The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA has indicated that a Search and Rescue-SAR operations are currently taking place at El-Rufai Estate, Kuje Area Council, Federal Capital Territory, FCT, in the aftermath of a flood incident at Shetiko River, just as response teams continue to locate the remaining missing victim.
According to NEMA Abuja Operations Officer, AOO, the search efforts have been extended to downstream areas due to the force of the flood currents and the possibility of victims being carried beyond the initial incident location. “Response teams are currently conducting coordinated searches along the river channel and surrounding areas, ” a statement by NEMA AOO stated.
According to its latest update, “an additional corpse was recovered at about 1748hrs on 4th October, 2026 downstream at Pai Village in Kwali Area Council, FCT. One person remains missing, while search and rescue activities continue to locate the individual.”
The agency assured the public of further updates as more information becomes available.
