Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, has acknowledged about 10, 000 Principals of Secondary Schools in Nigeria as critical stakeholders and charged them to be committed to actualising the positive behavioural change expected in the young ones, students and the society at large.

Dr. Aliyu emphasized this while addressing the 66th Annual Congress of the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS) in Abuja, stressing that Principals of Secondary Schools in the country, whom he described as strategic partners in advancing positive behavioural change should partner ICPC in its anti-corruption crusade.
Represented by a Deputy Director of the Education Division of the Commission, Mr. John Okor Odey, the ICPC boss further revealed that the law mandates the Commission to take responsibility for reaching out to all Nigerians irrespective of tribe or creed with the anti-corruption message.
He informed the Congress that, “in 2003, ICPC through the facilitation of ANCOPSS, had commenced the formation and inauguration of Schools’ Anti-Corruption Clubs.
TDr. Aliyu stated that, the Commission had so far inaugurated such Clubs in more than 2000 public and private schools across the country, which served as platforms for students to engage in the fight against corruption.
Dr. Aliyu called on the school principals to introduce “Anti-Corruption Prefects” in their respective schools, hoping it would help in shaping the narrative in the drive towards ‘catching them young’ and building a virile leadership for the future”.
Earlier, in his welcome address, the National President of ANCOPSS, Muhammed Ibn Musa, enjoined ANCOPSS members to reciprocate the gesture of the government through dedicated service, saying that, “to whom much is given, much is expected.”
The ICPC Chairman enumerated the Commission’s numerous initiatives and programmes under the enlightenment and education such as the National Values Curriculum, Schools Anti-Corruption Clubs in Primary and Secondary Schools, Conferences, Seminars, Workshops, Rallies, Town Hall Meetings, Television and Radio sessions, Toll Free lines and lots more.
