The feud between two former governors of Rivers State and once upon a time political allies, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and Nyesom Ezewon Wike is far from over in view of the latest comments by the former describing the latter as one who can betray his mother for money.
In a trending video from Amechi’s camp, the former minister of transportation accused Wike as someone who says one thing and does another as a mark of political hypocrisy.
The circulating video has the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT speaking at different scenarios put together by his opponent to justify his portrayal.
In one instance, a segment of the carefully strewn video saw the minister sometime referring to his state by saying, “This is my state, i will not play politics with what belongs to my state. Friendhip is frienship, party is party and my state interest is my state interest. We say we are all family members, there is no need to bring acrimony in our house…”
Assessing Wike’s statement against the development that played out in the state, the Ameachi’s camp alleged that the same fellow who spoke about having his state interest at heart brought about the political tomoil in the state during the recently concluded local government elections which aftermath led to shootings and burning of some local government secretariats, including the break down of law and order , especially due to the none participation of the Nigeria Police in the exercise after a conflicting court order about the xonduct of the LG polls
Ameachi, who summed up Wike’s public statement in one breath in a one minute and 10 seconds video was quoted as saying that, “He can betray his mother for money and power”- Rotimi Amaechi.”
It is interesting to know that, the former minister of transportation may have brought Wike into the limelight in politics, when back in the days, Amaechi as a former governor of Rivers appointed his kinsman and friend, Nyesom Wike as his Chief of Staff, from where the current minister of the FCT moved on to become the Minister of State for Education and later fell apart from the man he served under.
It is also on record that Amaechi who had been quiet for sometime after losing a presidential bid in a primary against Bola Tinubu, the incumbent President of Nigeria became interested in the development affecting his state, especially when all fingers appeared to be pointing at Nyesom Wike as brain behind the crisis that rocked the state in the wake of the LG elections in Rivers.
Recall that the crisis in Rivers state is not unconnected with the power tussle betweek Wike and his political godson, governor Siminilayi Fubara over who controls the party structure, ( part of which is the control of the local government leadership) , despite the much talked about lical government autonomy.
“I have said to Rivers State, you know Nyesom Wike, he loves and worships money, nothing more nothing less, he can betray his mother for money,” Ameachi openly stated in a town hall meeting as revealed in the video.
