The Canadian High Commission in Nigeria has stressed that the closure of its office in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, FCT to the public will remain till further notice.
The High Commission made the announcement through its X account, on Sunday that the suspension remains in place.
It said, “The High Commission of Canada to Nigeria in Abuja remains closed to the public until further notice.
“However, all High Commission services – including immigration and consular – continue to be provided.
“If you require urgent in-person consular assistance, limited services are available temporarily at the British High Commission, in Abuja.
“For emergency consular assistance, call the Emergency Watch and Response Centre in Ottawa.”
The High Commission provides visa and immigration services for those seeking to visit or emigrate to Canada. It provides services to Canadians visiting and living in Nigeria and to Canadians in Equatorial Guinea, and Sao Tome and Principe.
Its services include adoption and surrogacy, birth abroad, citizenship services, marriage abroad, passport services, notarial services, studying abroad and visa and immigration services.
On November 6, 2023, the Canadian High Commission announced the suspension of its operations in Abuja till further notice, following a horrific fire incident that took place at the office.
The incident resulted in the loss of two lives and two others injured.
