The Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State on E-GIS (Electronic Geographic Information System) and planning matters, Olajide Babatuunde has reaffirmed government’s commitment to relocate the Ikeja-based Computer Village to the ICT Park in Katangowa, in Agbado/Oke-Odo Local Council Development Area, LCDA, in matter of weeks
Babatunde made the disclosure over the weekend during a media briefing.
The Special Adviser on E-GIS explained government’s action saying that, “We are trying to reorganise all our markets. I will give you an example. In Ikeja, we have a computer village. The computer village is being relocated.
“We are relocating them to Katangowa. It is not just the computer village alone. Other activities will happen in the Katangowa market.
“In the next coming weeks, you will see government effort on Katangowa.
“So, we are moving these people who seem to be on the road in Ikeja also obstructing traffic into a proper market big enough with all the services, including creche for their children, schools, playgrounds, mosques, churches, accommodation and hotel facilities, storage rooms, warehouses.”
Babatunde assured that the plan was part of the moves to ensure that things were done the proper way. He said through the course of action, government will regenerate, redevelop, renovate, conserve, all geared towards actualizing a greater Lagos.
It would be recalled that seven years ago, in April 2017, the Lagos government then had said that the Computer Village would be relocated before the end of same year.
The Lagos State government introduced the Electronic Geographic Information System (e-GIS) platform in January 2014, where residents can apply, search and verify land titles across the state online before purchase is made.
