In its continued effort to revitalize and improve the quality of the Civil and Public Service, Ogun State governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has approved the appointment of two new Permanent Secretaries within the State’s Civil Service.
This was contained in a Statement signed by the state Head of Service, Mr Kehinde Onasanya
Onasanya stated that the appointment was made by the state governor in line with the provision of Section 208 (c) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) and having considered merit, professionalism, inclusiveness and seniority in the Civil/Public Service of the state.
In addition, he said that the new appointees were carefully selected from the pool of Directors who were successful in the Ogun State Pipeline Leadership Development Programme conducted for Directors towards ensuring eligibility for appointment into the position of Permanent Secretaries in the State Civil Service.
According to the statement, the new Permanent Secretaries are Dr.
Ogunsanya Wellington Olaitan, Consultant (Surgery), GL. 17 and Mr. ABDUL Suraj Olubamiro, Physiotherapist, GL. 17. Prior to their appointment, Dr. Ogunsanya Wellington Olaitan, who joined the Civil Service of Ogun State on 2nd June, 1992 was the Director of Planning, Research and Statistics (DPRS) of the Ogun State Hospitals Management Board and holds a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Ibadan in 1989.
On the other hand, Mr. ABDUL Suraj Olubamiro, who was appointed into the Service on 20th May, 1991 was the State Director of Physiotherapy and Medical Rehabilitation (DPMR) and possesses a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy from the University of Lagos in 1990 in addition to a Post Graduate Degree in Planning, Research and Statistics from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta in 2011.
The newly appointed Permanent Secretaries are urged to exhibit serious dedication, diligence and selflessness in their new roles while relentlessly pursuing excellence in service and working collaboratively with other stakeholders to “realize the Ogun State of our shared dream through the ‘Building Our Future Together’ Agenda, under the visionary leadership of His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, Governor of Ogun State.”
The swearing-in ceremony of the new appointees shall be conducted by His Excellency, the Governor in due course, the statement added.
