Senator Abdul’aziz Musa Yar’adua, Chairman of the Northern Senators Forum, has praised the NELFUND board and Managing Director Mr. Akintunde Sawyerr for their effective implementation of the NELFUND Student Loan scheme.
In a letter of appreciation, Senator Yar’adua thanked all involved in the swift rollout of the initiative, which is designed to offer financial assistance to young students across the northern region.
Acknowledging the unique challenges the region faces, Senator Yar’adua highlighted the critical role education plays in promoting stability, reducing youth restiveness, and expanding employment prospects. The NelfundStudentLoan scheme, he said, offers young citizens an invaluable chance to secure a brighter future, enabling them to access quality education without financial burden.
The Northern Senators Forum has also encouraged northern state governments to engage with the scheme, promoting awareness and facilitating greater access to these opportunities for students across the region. They expressed confidence that increased state involvement would ensure the programme’s success and further contribute to long-term regional development.
In the letter of appreciation signed by Senator Abdul’aziz Musa Yar’adua, the forum acknowledged what it described as a “historic Act setting up NELFUND and the propensity of the initiative to enable progress, especially in reducing insecurity and improving living standards across our communities.”
