By Olawale Lamina

President Bola Tinubu has appointed 39-year-old Professor Segun Aina as the new Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, taking over the reigns from Professor Ishaq Oloyede, whose tenure ends on July 31, 2026.

President Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga announced the new appointment in a statement issued on Thursday.

Describing the predecessor, the statement acknowledged that Oloyede’s tenure at JAMB was, by most accounts, transformational. The President commended Oloyede, pointing out that within three years of assuming office in 2016, he turned around the board’s operations and finances. Remittances to the Federal Government rose sharply from less than ₦50 million between 1978 and 2016, to ₦7.8 billion in 2017 alone.

Onanuga also stated that, from 2016 to 2026, JAMB remitted ₦20.7 billion in operating surplus and funded physical and human development projects from internally generated revenue.
