“$42b Tech pact sealed to mark Trump’s visit
United States President, Donald Trump has madeba second historic state visit to the United Kingdom with his first lady, Melania Trump on Tuesday.
On arrival, the US President and Mrs. Trump were greeted after landing by dignitaries and members of the Royal Air Force.
A multi-billion US technology investment deal was announced as the visit got under way – but Trump said the trip’s main purpose was to see “my friend” King Charles.
“He represents the country so well, such an elegant gentleman,” he said.
Trump and First Lady Melania received an official welcome on the runway at Stansted airport by a line-up which included Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper.
Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer also held a short phone call with Trump late on Tuesday, to welcome him to the country.
Later today (Wednesday), Mr. Trump and first lady will travel to Windsor Castle, where they are scheduled to be received by King Charles III and Queen Camilla before a day of pomp and pageantry, according to a BBC report.
Part of the thrust of the trip include to see the two nations unveiling a technology pact that will translate to billions of dollars of investment in AI, quantum computing, and nuclear energy. der Technology Pact
Britain and the United States technology pact will be powered, with top U.S. firms led by Microsoft pledging 31 billion pounds ($42 billion) in UK investments.
