Poser of the Day:‘THE BOSS, considering the nature of man, his choices and freedom, is perpetual peace possible’?
Introduction: Welcome to ASK THE BOSS, the Q & A Platform that focuses on providing help for people with socio-emotional puzzles. Many thanks, all of you who keep the fire, round about. If you have any issue troubling your life, simply inbox me and in weeks, max, I shall appear here with an answer. Remember to attach either your preferred photo or a plea for anonymity.
2.0 A photo of you so that people can put a face to the poser. Or, you plead anonymity so that your village people don’t come for you. Wisdom is profitable to direct. Thou shalt not be stupidly bold.
3.0 Stop laughing, my dear. Learn to listen when I talk. They don’t call me The Boss, for nothing. Jokes aside, if you’d just pay attention every time I provide guidance, your life shall remain permanently guided.

4.0 The entry before us comes from a brother within. Boyish man, Stephen Godwin, an old boy of BUSH HOUSE NIGERIA, is the incumbent Director General of The 20 QUESTIONS Community, one of my three mentoring platforms. He has left us with a poser that is at once simple and difficult. As is his wont, he first teases us about the nature, choices and freedom of man, before he puts us on the spot.
5.0 My Take: Understanding that Mr. Godwin is a thespian helps me not only in my work with him but even more as I field this question. Like media professionals, thespians mirror society. Broadcasters, journalists and thespians are desperate for a better society. So, I’d say this straight up to DG Stephen Godwin: I don’t know about others, but between you and me, the peace that we enjoy is possible perpetually!
6.0 But seriously, man by his very nature coupled with the choices he makes and the freedom he prefers has ended up like Prof. Ayandele’s atomistic society: perpetually at war with himself. Look at Russia/Ukraine. Look at Israel/Hamas. Look at the many ongoing cold wars, around the world.
7.0 Two, three days ago, the world’s so-called number one democracy rounded off search for its 47th president. With the tempestuous election already won and lost, there is no need to not let sleeping dogs lie. Were it not for the fact that this writer is a Christian, taught by his Saviour to always let bygones be bygones, there would have been need to remind us that had the ballot gone the other way, that delectable country would be up in flames as we speak. That American politician must have Nigerian roots!
8.0 He has messed up politics, that man. Cantankerous people are copying him all over the world. And, you can see that the world has become more fractured in the eight years the man has been active in politics. No one can deny that conclusive reality because we all live in it.
9.0 It doesn’t require rocket science savvy to agree that man is more pugnacious than peaceable. Man celebrates war more than he does peace. Government honours militants and pooh-poohs reward for peace lovers. However, since nothing in life is cast in concrete, it can also be argued that that elusive peace is possible in perpetuity.
10.0 If man would just revert to his default nature (the God-likeness, etc.); if man would mind his choices; if man would just measure his freedom, perpetual peace or the beginning thereto can set off. Created in the image and likeness (that is nature) of God, man is or was supposed to be a lover -not a hater; a sharer -not a hoarder; a troubleshooter – not a troublemaker. He’s now the exact opposite of all that he represents because of greed. Greed is at the root of sin and all the war facing man!
11.0 It might sound simplistic but that’s it. Man only needs to cure himself of greed to enjoy permanent peace. And yes, it is possible. I believe that as life lives on, man shall grow weary of greed and war and change to give peace, perpetual peace, a chance.
Conclusion: When we kill greed, its cousins shall die off naturally. Yes, envy, hunger, injustice, poverty, pride, war, name it, cannot survive without selfishness. This is the way to go; this is the way to live in perpetual peace. This is the way God intended for our world.
God bless Nigeria!
