..says Current Administration Clueless

By Olawale Lamina

Erstwhile National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New People’s Democratic Party, nPDP, and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has stated that comment credited to the former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, in a public symposium marking his 60th Birthday Anniversary, is a reflection of the stack reality about the state of  hunger confronting Nigerians under the administration of President Tinubu and those surrounding him whom he alleged were treasury looters “who have ruthlessly indulged in fanfare of squander-mania and left the people they they claim to lead in squalor without a hint of remorse.”

In a statement made available to the media, Eze noted that the former Minister’s comment which was borne out of patriotism and empathy for the helpless masses was targeted at drawing the attention of the President and his allies to the bizarre suffering, hunger and starvation that is fast becoming an enduring legacy of the current regime that gag critics and forcefully stifle dissenting voices including the media and media practitioners who attempted to bring to the fore instances of the government’s failures.

“As it is in Nigeria today, under the insensitive and clueless government of President Tinubu, it is an act most abominable for any Nigerian to say he is hungry. In fact, it is now a national taboo and sanctionable crime for Tinubu’s men to hear that Nigerians are hungry.

“Imagine, Tinubu, beating Nigerians, impoverished by his obnoxious, anti people and self serving economic policies, and yet, doesn’t want them to cry out over hunger,”  Eze lamented.

According to Chief Eze, who is an ally of Rt. Hon. Amaechi, rather than vilify and call for Amaechi’s head, the President and his handlers should have embraced the noble and sincere advice of the 2-time Director General of the Buhari Campaign Organization, and go back to their economic blueprint to see what esle they can do to save Nigerians from devastating hunger ravaging the country.

“Amaechi, saying he is hungry is a subtle way of advising Tinubu to have a rethink and save Nigerians from dying. It’s a hard truth, that must be said without minding whose ox is gored. It is speaking truth to power. It’s nothing but the truth….

,”It is important that the world be put on notice about the seriousness of the poverty situation in the country where Nigerians who can no longer fend for their families are resorting to suicide, to end the agony, trauma and embarrassment that beseech their inability to provide for their household. More Nigerians have committed suicide for this reason under the current regime than any other administration in the annals of the country’s history, whereas the President and his cabinet members and those close to them live extravagantly at the expense of the common patrimony,” Eze alleges

Chief Eze also took a swipe at the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike and his Media Aide and others  for making a jest of the honest and sincere expression of the former Transportation Minister which reflects the suffering of Nigerians.

“Contrary to the reasoning of Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Barr. Nyesom Wike, a man that was moulded, tutored and brought to political limelight by Amaechi, the statement of the former Transportation Minister, literally did not mean he can’t feed himself or his family.

“It is sad that many including Wike and his bootlickers deliberately misunderstood what Amaechi was trying to highlight that the present Federal Government under Tinubu’s watch, has brought so much untold hardship and pitiable hunger to Nigerians.

“Amaechi’s statement was a pointer to the fact that it is either you are in government or you are one of those engaged in looting of the country’s treasury, or in NNPC or government agencies where public funds are not accounted for, that you will not feel the pang of hunger.

“But I strongly know and Nigerians also know that Wike and Tinubu’s aides know that Nigerians are truly hungry and desirous of food on their tables. They should stop their eye-service and refrain from pretence.

“Building flyovers in Abuja and making noise, can never quench the thirst and hunger in Nigerians. If you are hungry, can you ascend and descend from a flyover?” Eze querried.

”

He alleged that only Wike and his ilk “who looted the common patrimony on a daily basis can boast of their next meal and not the over 300 million ordinary Nigerians whose pains Amaechi’s statement represents. Amaechi spent 23 years in power without looting and therefore it is in order if he complains of hunger like the ordinary Nigerians who cannot afford daily bread. Amaechi is Nigerians and Nigerians are Amaechi.”

He cautioned the President to desist from what he referred to as “the strategy of weaponizing hunger which his administration is using to suffocate Nigerians.”

The APC Chief noted that crucifying Amaechi, who he noted laboured assiduously alongside some progressive democrats to midwife the APC, by calling him unprintable names for harmlessly stating the obvious is evil, wicked, and anti democratic.

But Eze appealed to Nigerians not to lose faith in the Nigerian project, stressing that there is light at the end of the tunnel, come 2027.

He called for prayers for the likes of Amaechi whom he said  is  among those working tirelessly to emancipate Nigeria.

Eze appealed to Tinubu’s government to have sympathy for Nigerians and engage in policies that will give the people a breathing space.

He equally urged Wike and his aides to stop castigating innocent people doing their best to draw the attention of the government to the state of the nation.
