The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC may have well maintained its political hold in most states of the country as it presently governs about 30 states, out of the 36 in the country, with the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, only being able to lead in Oyo, Bauchi and Zamfara.
The latest entrant into the APC political family, being Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa state, who declared his defection to the APC on Friday.
He announced that he joined the party with members of his cabinet, including officials of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
Fintiri said that his decision to jump ship is in the interest of Adamawa residents and its development.

Before now, the main opposition party, PDP and the then Peter Obi led Labour Party, once gave a formidable opposition to the ruling party.
The coalition ADC appears to be in a setting where presidential contenders are yet to reach a consensus on who should fly the party’s flag.
It is expected that in the days to come, the give-and-take process it requires for the ADC will likely be a game changer to challenge the ruling APC in the 2027 presidential election.
Does the spread as listed reflect an automatic win for the APC? Watch out for our series on politics and states controlled by political parties .
