Introduction: I have always known that no question is completely useless. ASK THE BOSS has cemented that knowledge. Sometimes, when I peep at my inbox, I cannot but laugh at some of the questions I am expected to answer. Most of these guys must think I am a magician.
Or that, being from Uruan, I have a wisdom talisman that I ‘invoked’ from India. Very funny. Thankfully, God has helped me this far. He is able to complete the good job he started in me.
He will continue to grant me Solomonic wisdom. I am therefore ever so confident to provoke you to dig hard and bring out those questions on Life Experiences tormenting you. Today is the turn of Mfonobong Usoro. Let’s play:
1.0 The Boss, I have a situation I want to trust you with. By the way, thanks for your great work. It’s amazing how effortlessly you pull these stunts. I’m learning.
2.0 This is my challenge. Someone offends another and apologises unsuccessfully. The apologies came after a while when the person realised they were wrong. What more can the person do in such a case?
3.0 MY TAKE: My dear Ms Usoro, forgiveness doesn’t have to be spoken or expressed before it is seen to have been given. Forgiveness, like love, is a silent virtue. Forgiveness is a seed that is better appreciated at full fruitage. Now, let me break that down.
4.0 I do not know what transpired in your case. Whatever, you can be sure that the person you offended forgave you the moment you pleaded. However, time must pass; something must give; an opportunity must present itself for you to test whether they had truly forgiven. So long as nothing has happened to the contrary, rest assured that you had received the seed that forgiveness is.
5.0 To experience or hear it, you must wait for time. Or, an event. Or, an opportunity. Meaning?
6.0 There’s k-leg in any forgiveness that is voiced repeatedly. Or, that has not been tested. Such forgiveness is not only political but also shallow and intended to deceive. Similarly, even more importantly, you must learn to forgive yourself.
7.0 I have seen people continue to kick themselves over blunders that had long been forgiven. They continue seeking closure over chapters that had long been closed. They lose sleep over matters that had been forever resolved. They go on and on over old issues rather than look forward to new things which abound.
8.0 Could this be your case? Do you hardly forget mistakes? Are you permanently anxious? Do you have trouble moving on?
9.0 Come on, Darl. Life is not wired like that. Reset your mind. Learn to move on, clean and easily and fast.
10.0 Again, I say, Dear Ms. Mfonobong Usoroh, free your mind. Act anew and sure-footedly. Never forget that old things belong in the past. All things have become new.
11.0 It’s all in your hands. Forgiveness is taken and internalised and enjoyed. First create a reassuring future for yourself et al in your mind. And, every other thing shall be added on to you.
Conclusion: Human beings must understand that unspoken emotions could be better or weightier or more meaningful than words. It is good to verbalise our sentiments but they could be lies. Or things could change, and with that an already-voiced position. Therefore, it is best to wait for time, or event, or opportunity to show you had totally forgiven.
God bless Nigeria!
