– Commends Atiku for toeing path of Saraki Dynasty in Political Tolerance ….

By Olawale Lamina

“Without mincing words, Atiku who is seeking the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential ticket, insisted it was his son’s personal decision to jump ship…..”

Contrary to insinuations and condemnations in some quarters, an erstwhile National Publicity Secretary of the New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP), Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has said that Atiku Abubarkar’s son defection is historic, personal and a big moral and political lesson to President Tinubu and other undemocratic elements alike, who parade themselves as democrats in Nigeria.

In a statement on Tuesday, Chief Eze, an APC Chieftain, noted that the defection of Abubakar, popularly known as Abba, has further exemplified and projected Abba’s father, Atiku Abubakar as one of Africa’s seasoned democrats.

Chief Eze held that by viewing the defection of his son (Abba) from the opposition PDP to the ruling APC, as solely personal to Abba, the former Vice President has once again raised the bar of democracy and democratic practices in Nigeria to an enviable level.

“By supporting his son’s defection from PDP to APC, Atiku has risen the bar of democracy, thereby showing and proving to the world that he is truly in words and actions, a refined and principled democrat.

“This singular act has proven Atiku as a man full of political tolerance and sagacity, a beacon of democracy, who has what it takes to collaborate with Amaechi, Obi and others to redefine democratic governance and leadership in Nigeria, come 2027 when ADC may have taken over the reins of governance.

“Does anyone question Atiku’s status as a democrat? Certainly, the answer is no. In deed, Atiku by all ramifications is a leading democrat in Africa. His democratic credentials have continued to soar high by the day”.

“Atiku has now equalled the Saraki Dynasty in political tolerance, sagacity , acceptability and cohesion” Chief Eze stated.

The media guru contended that Atiku’s support for his son, Abba.

“When you see a democrat, you know by his actions and inactions are laced with sweet aroma of a democrat.

“You are not a democrat when you use state institutions to coerce, intimidate, and witch-hunt opposition elements simply because you want to win an election. Such inhumane and undemocratic acts relegate one to the trash bin of devious, demented and selfish tyrants and power drunks.

“You can be in Aso Rock for 30 years, yet, you are no where near the Assembly of democrats” Eze stressed.

Eze alleged that: “Today, Tinubu and his cohorts are doing everything humanly possible not only to coerce opposition political parties but dismantling them so that they will not participate in the 2027 general election through the unholy acts of the EFCC and other similar agencies of the government.

Eze reminded Tinubu that not all the political clowns defecting to APC are doing so because they want to support him to win the 2027 presidential election, rather they are jumping ship to cause him heartbreak and disappointment in 2027.

“If Tinubu thinks coercing some misguided governors to join the APC will make him win the 2027 general elections, then he doesn’t know what awaits him come 2027…”

Still commending the former VP Atiku, Eze said:”By allowing and supporting his son to join the APC, Atiku has emulated the late Pa Olusola Saraki, the doyen of Kwara State politics, who permitted his son Bukola Saraki, and his daughter to join different political parties outside his own political party.

“Today, both Bukola Saraki and Gbemisola Saraki are great influencers and household names in the politics of Nigeria.”

Recall that Atiku had reacted to his son’s defection from the PDP to APC by saying; “I am not alarmed”, and further describing his son’s action as “personal”.

Atiku who is seeking the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential ticket, insisted it was his son’s personal decision to jump ship.

Atiku was quoted as saying; “The decision of my son, Abba Abubakar, to join the APC is entirely personal. In a democracy, such choices are neither unusual nor alarming, even when family and politics intersect.

“As a democrat, I do not coerce my own children in matters of conscience, and I certainly will not coerce Nigerians. What truly concerns me is the poor governance of the APC and the severe economic and social hardships it has imposed on our people.

“I remain resolute in working with like-minded patriots to restore good governance and offer Nigerians a credible alternative that brings relief, hope, and progress”.
