The Nigeria Police Force, NPF, has rescued the younger sister of immediate past Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her twin sons, Peter and Paul in Oyo State.

The development was reported on ARISE television, revealing that the police operatives succeeded in neutralizing two suspected abductors in a gun duel and in the process recovered firearms, during an evening rescue operation undertaken around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The report stated that the three victims were all kidnapped around 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3, on their way to the children’s school.

“Security operatives are currently combing nearby areas for fleeing members of the kidnapping syndicate, some of whom are believed to have escaped with gunshot wounds.”

This came as a contrast to a similar incident involving over 30 schoolchildren and teachers held since mid-May raids in Oyo State’s Oriire Local Government Area (LGA), where bandits killed a teacher, beheaded another on video, and demand massive ransom plus Sharia law enforcement. The whereabouts of the victims are yet to be established weeks after, even as public criticisms have heightened over the state of security in the country, with Nigerians across different segments calling for converted efforts by security agencies to crush bandit-related abductions.

More details of the rescue operations and what becomes of the fleeing kidnappers with gunshot wounds are expected to hit the public space soon.

The latest rescue efforts confirm government’s determination to crackdown on perpetrators of kidnapping in the country.

Recall that on Friday, governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state paid a visit to the former minister Adelabu, assuring him of efforts to rescue the kidnapped persons, who are his nephews.
