The Forum of Former National Youth Council Of Nigeria Chairmen has honoured former Rivers State chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria ,NYCN, Ambassador Chijioke Ihunwo.
The forum said the honour follows Ihunwo’s feat and victory in the just-concluded LGA elections in Rivers State.
The former NYCN chairman was Caretaker Committee chairman of the council before emerging as the Chairman of Obio/Akpor LGA.
The forum led by Daniel Obo praised Governor Sim Fubara for his commitment to empowering young people and changing the leadership narratives in Rivers State.
He congratulated Ihunwo, saying his rise was no surprise, given his leadership in the National Youth Council, as they thanked Governor Fubara for uplifting the youth, making it possible for young leaders to take charge.
On his part, Comrade Bello Sherrif added, “We’re here from all parts of the country to support you. You’ve moved beyond NYCN and are now leading an entire LGA and we have no doubt you will make us proud.”
Appreciating the body, Ambassador Ihunwo expressed gratitude, promising to deliver on his mandate and make Obio/Akpor proud.
He thanked Governor Fubara for the opportunity, emphasizing that 70% of Rivers LGA chairmen are youths, attributing that to the Governor’s vision for youth empowerment.
He emphasized that, with Governor Fubara at the helm, the state will continue to shape a new generation of leaders.
