Notable Ogoni Activist and Coordinator of Friends of Ken Saro Wiwa’s Associates, Chief Gani Toobah has called on the cabinet members in the governor Siminialayi Fubara’s government, not prepared to work and demonstrate total loyalty to quit their appointments or tender their resignation.
Speaking on a live radio programme over the weekend in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, Chief Toobah dropped the warning, adding that any of them who runs foul of the advice will be forced to resign.
Toobah’s call was sequel to a similar call by another group, ‘RG -23 Power Shift Advocates,’ which stated that disloyal commissioners in the administration of governor Sim Fubara, should quit the cabinet, alleging that some of them are in the habit of criticizing the governor at different fora.
The position of the ‘RG -23 Power Shift Advocates’ was made public when its executives also appeared on a live radio chat, ‘Viewpoint,’ at the weekend in Port Harcourt.
Coordinator of the body known as ‘Priye Kalango expressed dismay that it is strange to see commissioners who are supposed to be frontliners of the policies and programmes of the government turn and criticize the same administration they claim to serve.
Kalango described such commissioners as moles allegedly planted by former governor Nyesom Wike to disrupt governance in the state.
He said: “Some of these commissioners don’t attend state functions, and we have seen various instances they come in public and condemn the governor’s programmes.”
The group coordinator stated further that ,”Some fathers disown disloyal sons. We have discovered that former governor Wike planted his loyalists to frustrate Governor Fubara , so that he would not succeed in governance.”
He called on Fubara to remove commissioners found to be disloyal within 14 days, warning that if no action is taken ,the group will mobilise its members to government House.
”I am calling on Rivers people that once the 14 days ultimatum expires, we will march down to the Government House to force those disloyal commissioners to resign.
