The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has confirmed the receipt of a petition by the President and Chief Executive of Dangote Industries Limited, Aliko Dangote, against the Managing Director of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Ahmed Farouk over allegation that the NMDPRA’s continued issuance of licences for the importation of refined petroleum products into the country remains a threat to Dangote’s multi-billion-dollar refinery and the Nigerian economy at large.

This was disclosed in a statement made available to journalists by the Commission’s Spokesperson, Mr. John Okor Ode, ANIPR,  on Tuesday 16th December, 2025.

The ICPC’s statement said that a formal petition against the CEO of the NMDPRA, Alhaji Farouk Ahmed.was received from Alhaji Aliko Dangote through his lawyer.

The ICPC assured the public that a thorough investigation will be conducted on the said petition.

“The ICPC wishes to state that the petition will be duly investigated,” the statement added.

Recall that on Sunday, Mr Dangote alleged that  MDNMDPRA’s MD engaged in economic sabotage by undermining domestic crude refining.

Dangote had accused the NMDPRA’s boss of  conniving with international traders and oil importers through the continued issuance of import licences.

At a press conference held at Dangote Petroleum Refinery in Lagos, Aliko Dangote also claimed that Mr Farouk maintains a livelihood beyond his means, emphasizing that four of the letter’s children attend expensive schools in Switzerland, a lifestyle suggestive of corruption and misappropriation of funds.

As Nigerians anxiously await what becomes of the petition against the  NMDPRA’s boss, many have expressed the confidence that the ICPC’s investigation into the matter will help unravel the intricacies in the weight of allegations around the matter.
