The Kaduna State Government has said the state has merged as the third-best performing sub-regional government in Nigeria, following the 2025 Phillips Consulting State Performance Index, earning an Excellent Four-Star Rating.
The government described the ranking as an independent validation of the reform agenda and development programmes being implemented by Governor Uba Sani’s administration.
In a statement issued on Monday by the state Commissioner for Information and Culture, Ahmed Maiyaki, the government said the ranking is a testament to significant progress recorded at different levels in the state.
The ranking extends to governance, fiscal management, infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, security and social inclusion sectors.
The statement noted that the assessment was based on objective performance indicators as well as feedback from citizens.
“This recognition is significant because it comes from an independent and credible assessment that combines objective performance indicators with citizen feedback.
“It confirms that Kaduna State is making steady progress in strengthening institutions, improving governance outcomes and expanding opportunities for its citizens,” Maiyaki stated.
The commissioner observed that the ranking was the latest in a series of independent assessments that had recognised improvements in governance and accountability in the state.
He recalled that Kaduna recently emerged as the top-ranked state in the country on the 2025 Transparency and Integrity Index published by the Centre for Fiscal Transparency and Public Integrity and also posted the highest score nationwide on the Control of Corruption Indicator.
Maiyaki said the recognitions highlighted the impact of reforms and investments undertaken by the administration across critical sectors.
“These rankings are encouraging because they demonstrate that our efforts are yielding measurable results. However, our focus remains on improving the lives of our people through inclusive development, economic empowerment, quality service delivery and sustainable peace,” he said.
He reaffirmed the commitment of Governor Uba Sani to a peaceful, prosperous, transparent and globally competitive Kaduna State through sustained reforms and people-oriented policies.
The state government also expressed appreciation to citizens, development partners, traditional and religious institutions, civil society organisations and other stakeholders for their contributions to the state’s development.
The administration has consistently maintained that its policies are aimed at promoting inclusive growth, reducing poverty and restoring public confidence in government institutions.
The ranking is expected to strengthen the government’s claims that its development initiatives are producing measurable outcomes.
