Lagos State Government has officially shelved the 2025 edition of the Greater Lagos Fiesta, planned to take place on December 31, 2025.
This was announced in a statement on Tuesday by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Mr Gboyega Akosile.
The statement said Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu approved the cancellation and called on residents to use the period originally set aside for the Greater Lagos Fiesta (Countdown 2026) for personal reflection and prayers for the country, Lagos State, and its people.
Governor Sanwo-Olu urged residents to use the period to pray for continued prosperity, effective leadership, peace, productivity, and overall wellbeing of the state.
Sanwo-Olu wished residents a joyful and successful 2026 and expressed the hope that the year ahead will be filled with promise for both Lagos State and the country at large.
He challenged residents on the need for peaceful cohabitation as the state moves into the new year.
Sanwo-Olu said: “On behalf of my family, I wish all residents of our dear state a happy and prosperous New Year,” while assuming Lagosians of his administration’s commitment to step up efforts in delivering good governance.
He added that adding government would work harder in the coming year towards improving the lives of the people.
