…the inglorious history book is divisive, depicted age long hatred for Igbo

By Olawale Lamina

A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and erstwhile National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New Peoples Democratic Party-nPDP, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has called on governors in the South-East geo-political zone to outrightly condemn and demand the immediate confiscation of the revised controversial edition of a
book titled; “Living History For Junior Secondary School 1 students in the country.

Also, Chief Eze berated the Minister of Education, Dr. Morufu Alausa, for turning blind eyes to the approval and publication of the book, which he described as “divisive, satanic and full of deceit” and depicted agelong hatred for the Igbo race.

Reacting to a viral video showing contents of the book, authored by one J.M Itsekuke, the APC Chieftain wondered why any right thinking Nigerian, if not an ethnic jingoist would sit back and author such a book has to do with Nigeria’s history without mentioning the Igbo tribe as a major ethnic group.

He blamed the South-East governors for being aloof to the reality of the implications of such a book in Nigeria.

“I learnt that this divisive, satanic and deceitful revised edition of the book for JSS1 students, is even catalogued by the National Library of Nigeria, and yet we have Governors in the South-East.

“How could the South-East Governors keep quite over this national hatred and disgrace, which is deliberately championed by the President Bola Tinubu led APC government, Eze queried.

While condemning the author by describing his efforts as ” painstakingly exhibiting high level of hatred for the Igbos and ignorance by deliberately not mentioning the Igbo ethnic group in his jaundiced piece of garbage,” Eze called for the arrest and prosecution of the author, J.M Itsekuke.

He further condemned the author for his negligence wilful omission, as well as Nigeria’s education minister under whose watch the book circulated across the country.

“I condemn both the author and the Minister of Education for approving and embarking on such an idiotic voyage of hatred called “Living History” of Nigeria for excluding the third major tribe in Nigeria.

“That book is an exercise in futility, a wasted nonsensical effort, specifically authored to provoke the Igbo race; it should henceforth be withdrawn from further circulation as a matter of urgency.

“At this point, I demand the removal of the Education Minister, Dr Morufu Alausa or else this will be counted as a policy statement by this administration to eradicate the Igbos from Nigeria’s history, ” adding with serious concern that, “I’m not surprised that this kind of wickedness and hatred of the highest order, for the Igbos, can resurface during the administration of President Tinubu who is not concerned about what the Igbos are going through under his administration.

Though Eze posited that the policy projection of the Tinubu administration is basically anti Igbo, he insisted that the book in question has further confirmed the feelings in some quarters that Tinubu is totally out to emasculate and frustrate the Igbos for reasons best known to him.

The politician cum media chief called on the South-East Governors to shove politics aside and rise to the challenge by vehemently demanding the arrest and prosecution of the author of the book.

He concluded by observing that Nigeria’s Education Minister has lost the moral ground to retain his position as a Minister, following what he described as “his silence and acceptance of the inglorious and erroneous history book.”
