The Executive Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, and FCT ALGON Chairman, Hon. Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, has charged the newly inaugurated cabinet members to embrace purposeful leadership and commit to swift service delivery, while working tirelessly to uplift residents across the area council.
The council Chairman gave the charge on Friday as he declared open a two-day strategic retreat for the new cabinet members at the Sky Age Hotel in Keffi, Nasarawa State.
Addressing the appointees, Hon. Maikalangu described the workshop as a critical platform to prepare the cabinet for the enormous responsibilities ahead.
He stressed that the gathering was not a celebration, but a solemn call to align with the administration’s vision of responsive, people-centered governance.
He said: “The expectations of our people are high. “Every appointee must remain laser-focused on delivering tangible, measurable results within the limited time available.”
Reminding the cabinet members that political appointments carry a sacred public trust, the Chairman urged them to avoid getting bogged down by bureaucratic routines. Instead, he tasked them to start engaging directly with local communities, identifying grassroots needs, and ensuring that every policy translates into meaningful socio-economic development.
Hon. Maikalangu also demanded absolute discipline, teamwork, and mutual respect, warning against internal rivalries and territorial conflicts that could derail the administration’s goals.
He advised appointees to focus entirely on their portfolios while maintaining a collaborative spirit to achieve collective success.
And while reaffirming his administration’s stance on accountability, the Chairman declared that performance assessments will be strictly merit-based.
“Every cabinet member will be evaluated on impactful service delivery and verifiable achievements, not on rhetoric or personal loyalty,” he warned.
He concluded by urging the participants to maximize the workshop to craft practical, innovative strategies that will accelerate development and fulfill the administration’s promises to the residents of AMAC.
