Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has praised Dries Mertens for inspiring him, describing him as a big motivator and revealing he watched Galatasaray games due to the Belgian’s influence.
“I admired Mertens greatly, even before joining Galatasaray. His motivational speeches and family values are precious to me,” Osimhen told Tutto Sport.
Osimhen, on loan from Napoli, shared a close bond with Mertens at Napoli before reuniting in Istanbul.
“Icardi, a club legend, will teach me valuable scoring and assist skills. Batshuayi and I will give our best for the team,” Osimhen added.
Osimhen’s impressive Galatasaray start includes two goals, four assists in four games.
However, Galatasaray is monitoring Osimhen’s fitness after a muscle injury in the Kasımpaşa match.
