The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God worldwide, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye has brought divinity into the political affairs of the country by stating that the nations next President is known already by Providence.
The Man of God stated this during a workers’ meeting at Redemption City along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Saturday, pointing out specifically the the outcome of the 2027 general elections which is expected to produce the President will be based on God’s will.
“The next president has already been decided by God who owns the universe. It is not something we can determine by human effort alone. The will of God will be done,” he declared.
The revered clergyman advised Nigerians not to be anxious about political developments, noting that God remains sovereign over the nation’s future.
The message may have come timely, especially at this time when political activities can be said to have increased with horse trading and shifting of base by politicians to have political edge over opponents.
“I never said we should not be involved in politics, but we must understand that God has the final say in the affairs of men,”
He charged Nigerians to follow the path of peace and be prayerful as political activities increase by the day.
He advised further by saying that, “We should do our part, but we should also keep on praying and trust God. That is what is satisfying to me.”
Pastor Adeboye, according to The Nation’s newspaper report responded to comments by activist and publisher of Sahara Reporters Omoyele Sowore, who described him, David Oyedepo, and William Kumuyi as fathers of Christians in Nigeria, by instead deferring to the leadership of the larger Christian body, the Christian Association of Nigeria,CAN, by preferring to agree that those who pilot the affairs of the body are the Father’s of Christians in Nigeria.
The cleric was quoted as saying that, “Sowore said that we are not the fathers of Christians but we are denominational fathers. He is very correct. I don’t want to be father of all Christians in Nigeria. I’m satisfied with being the father of the Redeemed Christian Church of God. That’s enough assignment for me.
“I have never wanted to be the father of all Christians in Nigeria. The CAN President is the father leader of Christians in Nigeria.”
He exonerated the RCCG from partisan politics over an allegation on the social media that the church is aligned with the All Progressives Congress, insisting the church remains independent.
But he pointed out that, as part of the society, the church has always spoken on burning national issues, including economic challenges, and stressed that if the umbrella body of Christians were to call for a peaceful protest, he would be involved.
Adeboye said: “I have protested before during the Goodluck Jonathan administration.”
He clarified that politicians are always welcome to attend services at the redemption camp, but they would not be allowed to speak or use the altar for political campaign.
