Operatives of the Lagos State Police division have arrested a man identified as Emmanuel Okpara, for allegedly beating his wife, Patience Johnson, to death.
Police sources stated that, Destiny, the son of the deceased, had on Tuesday March 26 visited the Elere police division to report that he received a phone call from a neighbour, who informed that his stepfather dealt a severe beating to his mother which resulted in serious injuries and eventually led to her untimely death.
According to the source, Destiny immediately got in touch with his mother and found her vomiting blood with injuries all over her.
The report stated that Emmanuel is currently at large after allegedly molesting her wife over an undisclosed family matter.
However, in the wake of the development , Destiny decided rushed his mother to the Orile Agege General Hospital where she was being attended to until she was pronounced dead due to complications Arising from her condition.
Destiny was said to have passed away at the general hospital, at about 6:am on Thursday, March 28.
Speaking on the development, spokesperson of the Lagos Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident, adding that the suspect had since been arrested and he is currently in detention as investigation into the matter is ongoing.
Meanwhile, the corpse of the deceased had been evacuated to the Lagos Mainland General Hospital for an autopsy to know the exact cause of the death.
