The National Security Adviser, NSA, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu has hosted a United States congressional delegation who visited on a fact-finding mission in Nigeria.

The meeting with the US delegation was a follow up on the earlier consultations with Nigerian officials in Washington, D.C.

The National Security Adviser said the delegation was led by Mario Díaz-Balart, while members included Norma Torres, Scott Franklin, Juan Ciscomani and Riley M. Moore. Mallam Ribadu also informed that the US Ambassador to Nigeria, Richard Mills, was also present at the meeting.

Shedding light on the import of the consultation, the NSA said that, “Discussions focused on counter-terrorism cooperation, regional stability and strengthening the Nigeria–US strategic security partnership.”

Ribadu expressed optimism that the US congressional delegation’s engagement would help reinforce trust, enhance collaboration, and enhance mutual commitment to peace and security.
