Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work on the historic 12.2-kilometre Trans-Kalabari Road project, as Phase 1 progresses with 75% of piling already completed.

The Governor stated this on Monday, October 27, while inspecting the project site in company of the management team of Lubriks Construction Company, contractors handling the project.

He noted that the infrastructure, when completed, will significantly improve accessibility and transform socio-economic life across Kalabari communities.

“I came here personally to inspect this project,”  Fubara said, adding that, “This is the Trans-Kalabari Road we flagged off about a year ago. I have been receiving reports from the Ministry of Works, but I felt it was important to come and see the level of progress for myself.”

He explained further that the first phase of the project will connect to Bakana and involve highly technical engineering due to the challenging water-logged terrain. “This phase alone has four river-crossing bridges and almost five decks on piles. It is a very demanding project, but we are making excellent progress,” he stressed.

The Governor confirmed that nearly 75% of piling, which is a crucial milestone for the stability and delivery of the road project has now been completed, reinforcing his administration’s confidence in meeting timelines.

The governor assured that, “By the grace of God, in the next six months, I am very positive that when we return for inspection, we should be driving across the bridge.”

Governor Fubara reiterated that his administration will remain focused on initiating and completing projects that meaningfully impact the lives of citizens and promote balanced development across the state.

“As you can see, this is a key strategic project — one that will immediately elevate the standard of living and boost economic opportunities for the Kalabari people upon completion,” he emphasized.

He commended the contractors for maintaining high standards and urged continued dedication toward timely delivery. The Governor also reaffirmed his government’s resolve to strengthen inter-community connectivity and foster inclusive growth throughout Rivers State.
