This is the first edition of this engagement with you as a reader on this platform. This is intended to bring you writings that would provoke your thoughts and inspire you on to better life and living.
At the moment, we have to have an open-minded approach to what is presented through this medium.
We are going to take an inspiring approach as it promises to be a sort of ‘random’ presentation of poetic pieces (and, perhaps, other things) that can arouse our interest and make us better as members of the society we find ourselves in. In the interim, we have to delve into an issue of the moment which is the International Women’s Day, observed last week across the globe.
It is no longer news that 8th of March every year is the International Women’s Day. The day is a day set aside to celebrate women worldwide. The United Nations, in 1977, officially recognised this day as a day to celebrate women across the globe. Last Thursday, being 8th March, 2024, was this year’s International Women’s Day. As one can see, and say, since last week, the atmosphere has been full of echoes of a different positive aura, stemming from the celebrations of womanhood worldwide.
This is my heartfelt appreciation to our women out there. It is a moment of appreciation of all that belong to this positively unusual breed called WOMAN. We cannot thank them enough because they do more than what is enough, sacrificing for the good of (hu)mankind, which must go into extinction without “womankind.”
I thank the ONE and ONLY woman in the DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF EZE, Mrs. Mercy Eze Echie (nee Orokor). The only woman among men. She’s our mother and sister.
We also remember all within and outside our immediate circles who are great-grand-mothers, grand-mothers, mothers, sisters, cousin sisters, aunties, neighbours, mothers and sisters in Christ, friends, colleagues…well-wishers. All who belong to this unusual breed – WOMANHOOD.
They reflect the superb creativity of God. If man is (supposedly) God’s ANALOGUE creature (please forgive us and we don’t intend to ridicule our own breed), the Woman is God’s DIGITAL creature (and we are not trying to tickle someone’s fancy). We think that the Woman is an “Advanced Man” (full of divine complexities) showcasing the extra-efforts God put into fashioning her to the amazement of the first man. So, the Woman is a Wow (!) creature, not to be subjected to the apron strings of demonic male chauvinism that makes the world to be bereft of or deprive itself of “divine femininity.”
It’s a moment to remind us all that we should not demonise her, neither should we weaponize gender against her. She is a true reflection of God’s matchless craftsmanship. And we should celebrate womanhood now and always. HAPPY MOTHERS’ DAY to you all. May God keep you all alive to see that of next year in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
Still in that spirit, I make a presentation of what one considers a unique celebration of womanhood using the vehicle of poetry. This writing is an inspiring piece which serves as a means of continuing that celebration. It is a poem rendered by Elder Alita II about womanhood on Elder Poetry platform. I hope it would inspire you. (Please my sincere apologies for the typos. I just want to present it the way it is.)
EVERY WOMAN
Let the world apologise to women for calling-them pretty. For these creatures are beyond beauty. They are the ocean in which all life sails,They are the land in which all human walks,They are the air that gives air to the wind,They’re the hands that carries all life,They’re the mouth that feeds all mouths,They’re the breast from which the world drinks,They’re the auto-multipliers,They’re the mother hen that protects the chicks. They’re the golden hearts that begets all other
A woman is a woman, in Nigeria, China, Ghana,India, Malta, Algeria, Indonesia, America.Let the world apologise to women for calling them just pretty. And not paragon, epitome, immaculate, divine,Elegant, mothers, unique, stars, gold and extra-terrestrially super humans. For the art and process of becoming a woman is beyond human.
