Osun State — Osun State is changing. Over the past years, the state has recorded steady improvements across key areas of development. Roads are being upgraded, schools and hospitals are receiving attention, and the business environment is beginning to attract both residents and investors. These shifts are happening gradually. Osun is becoming more active, more inviting, and more open to opportunities that can improve the lives of its people.

The state government, under the leadership of Governor Ademola Adeleke, has played a key role in this change. The recent announcement of a 159 billion naira infrastructure plan shows the administration’s seriousness. The plan includes new roads, upgraded schools, and better health services. These efforts help create the kind of environment where growth becomes easier and more sustainable.

Economic data supports this progress. Osun’s gross domestic product is currently over $7.3 billion. The growth rate stands at 7 percent, which is higher than in many other states. Osogbo’s metropolitan population continues to rise. In 2025, it reached 822,000 people, a 3.27 percent increase from the previous year. These figures may seem like statistics, but they reflect the experience of people on the ground. More families are moving in. More businesses are opening. There is more movement and energy in the state than in previous years.

This is the kind of environment that needs forward-thinking projects. One such project is the proposed Living Spring Technical College Estate in Osogbo. It is being developed by a consultant who already has investments in Osun State and has created over 1,000 jobs. The estate is designed to meet several of the needs that Osun’s current growth is creating.

The estate will include residential plots for private housing. It will also feature a shopping mall, a hotel, and recreational facilities. These are not just nice additions—they meet specific needs. As more people move to Osogbo, the demand for housing continues to grow. At the same time, there is a need for more hospitality services. Retail activity is also expanding. Businesses are looking for space. Young professionals want housing that is secure and well-planned. The Living Spring Technical College Estate aims to meet these needs in one place.

If completed, the estate will do more than house people. It is projected to create over 2,000 jobs, attract new investment, and bring in services that improve everyday life. Construction itself will create employment. When the estate becomes operational, businesses within it will offer even more job opportunities. Small shops, maintenance workers, food vendors, and other services will benefit. The presence of a hotel and sports facilities will also help attract short-term visitors and possibly draw attention from outside the state.

However, despite its potential, the project is facing some delays. Opposition exists, and progress has slowed. This is where government support becomes important. The request is not for funding. The request is for practical support that helps the project move forward on schedule.

Government agencies can assign officers to ensure proper communication between developers and relevant ministries. They can also provide clarity and stability in regulations. These small actions can make a large difference in how quickly the project is completed.

This is where Osun can learn from neighboring Oyo State. Under Governor Seyi Makinde, Oyo has established a model of sustained investor engagement. Whenever the state government invites investors, there is a strong follow-up system that keeps things on track. Projects are monitored, challenges are addressed quickly, and land disputes are minimized. In Osun, however, many projects begin but are not followed through. This trend is dangerous—it discourages investors and stalls development. For instance, many investors came into Osun with enthusiasm but eventually left due to lack of support, coordination, and unresolved issues like land grabbing.

There is a strong case for completing this project within six months. The land is available. The developer is experienced. The market is ready. What is needed now is speed and cooperation. If that happens, the estate could become a practical model of how public and private efforts can work together to grow a city.

Osun State has started a new chapter. It is becoming a place where people do not just visit but choose to stay and build. Projects like the Living Spring Technical College Estate match the reality of where the state is going. They should be encouraged, not delayed.

The state government has already done important work to make Osun more welcoming to development. Supporting this project further would help deepen that impact. It would also send a clear message that Osun is not just open for business, but ready for progress.
