The minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has expressed the readiness of the FCT Administration’s to take development to rural areas to ensure they enjoy good governance.

The minister made the disclosure on Friday as he embarked on inspection of ongoing construction of 11-kilometre Yangoji-Sukuku Ebo-Road and Kwali Unity Bank Road in Kwali Area Council of the territory.

Wike stated that,“I feel delighted that we are taking development to rural areas.

“For me, it is very important to ensure that while actualising the “Renewed Hope” agenda of President Bola Tinubu, rural communities also benefit from the dividends of democracy.

“The rural areas are part of the FCT and should enjoy good governance.”

He expressed the fact that development should not be limited to the capital city alone.

He noted that the initiative will help lessen the rural urban migration currently being experienced in the FCT.

Wike observed that government needed to extend infrastructure to the rural communities to be able to develop.

“Providing infrastructure, particularly roads, is key to the development of communities so that they can feel the impact of governance,” the FCT minister said.

Wike called on Gilmor Engineering Ltd, (the contractor) to speed up the work to meet the deadline.

He charged the council chairman to monitor the execution of the project directly and not rely on reports by civil servants.

Mr. Wike pledged that the FCT Administration would give necessary requirements to ensure the completion of the projects.
