A ghastly motor accident has occured on Mabuchi road before Jahi junction as a woman driving in Toyota Lexus jeep with Abuja number plate, RSH 109 JX, lost control and rammed into a fence along the expressway before summersaulting twice, while the owner struggled to come out of the vehicle with the assistance of sympathizers who crowded her.
Sources at the scene stated that the accident took place at about 2:15pm on Monday.
One of the eyewitnesses, Monday Madu, told The Pinnacle Times that what happened was like a movies on the express. “We were just by the road side, close to Gishiri junction and Shansiga Court, when we saw a Lexus jeep, like the owner wanted to overtake a taxi ahead and , in the process, lost control by moving away from the express and facing where we were standing.
“The vehicle that was already on top speed climbed the side walk and hit the fence head on, before it somersaulted twice and stopped. Immediately, people gathered from different directions to help.
He observed that luckily, no incoming and oncoming vehicles came a distant close when the incident occurred.
Another source, who preferred not to be identified stated that the scene brought panic to everyone around, as some believed that the occupant of the car may not be so lucky.
She stated that, with some efforts and assistance of the people, the woman in the car managed to come out with some bruises to her ankles and hands.
However, when The Pinnacle Times contacted the survivor, the middle-aged, fair skinned woman sat on a stone where she managed composure and stated that she didn’t know how the accident happened but all she could notice was that she lost control.
She later placed a call to a close relation, who appeared to be her husband, informing him of the accident in Ibo language.
Some sympathizers who came around urged the owner to stay calm and thank God as the accident could have been worse.
Meanwhile, a tow vehicle that was seen passing by with the period pulled up and helped to stabilize the car that had turned upside down, making it possible to assess the level of damage to that car, which included a broken windshield and some other parts.
