Lere Olayinka, the spokesman of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has disclosed why any opposition led by Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, former presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, will fail, saying the latter will readily give up his opposition and join the ruling party if President Bola Tinubu promises to hand over power to him in 2027.
The FCT ministers aide on social media made the remark following Atiku’s visit to former President Muhammadu Buhari in Daura, Katsina State home
Recall that atiku, alongside former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai; former Sokoto State governor Aminu Tambuwal; former Benue State governor Gabriel Suswam, among others, had visited the former President on Friday.
Atiku stated that he visited Buhari with others to pay Sallah homage.
But in dismissing Atiku’s reason, Olayinka said the former Vice President should instead pay homage to former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta for the celebration of Lisabi Day.
“Those of us who have sense know that any opposition being led by Atiku is a failure from the beginning.
“Reason is, if tomorrow President Tinubu calls Atiku and tells him, ‘Don’t worry, I will hand over to you in 2027, just join APC,’ he (Atiku) will be in the APC immediately,” stated Wike’s aide.
It remains to be seen if the tantrum from Wike’s camp through his media aide will be allowed to go without reactions in the coming days
