Muhammadu Buhari, the immediate past Nigeria’s president has died in a London hospital on Sunday at about 4:pm, as a result of an undisclosed illness.
Garba Sheu, Buhari’s former spokesperson broke the neies of the passing of the former Nigerian President and and a military head of state on behalf of the family via his verified X handle.
In his cindolence message, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, described the development as a national loss.
A statement issued on Sunday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, reads partly: “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced the passing of his predecessor, President Muhammadu Buhari.
“President Buhari died today in London at about 4.30 pm, following a prolonged illness.”
Continuing, the statement revealed that, “President Tinubu has spoken with Mrs. Aisha Buhari, the former President’s widow and offered his deep condolences.”
Mr. Onanuga also said that , to facilitate arrangements for conveying the body of the departed forner leader, “President Tinubu has also ordered Vice President Kashim Shettima to proceed to the United Kingdom to accompany President Muhammadu Buhari’s body back to Nigeria.”

Meanwhile, condolences have continued to pour in for the family of the former president, even as netizens have started reacting differently to the demise of Mr. Muhammadu Buhari.
One of the dignitaries and Nigeria’s former minister of finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala described the news of Buhari’s death as “unbelievable,” revealing that it came only moments after she had wished him a speedy recovery.
The former Nigerian Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, sent condolences to the entire Buhari family and his close aides and associates.
His remains are expected home any moment to facilitate his burial rites according to Islamic injunction.
