The gubernatorial hopeful in the forthcoming off-circle election in Ondo State, Barrister Alfred Agboola Ajayi has promised to ensure that 35 percent of the women in the state were given appointments if elected in the November 16 governorship election in the state.

This was contained in a statement via his X handle on Thursday .

The former deputy governor assured that, “I will make sure I turn around the fortune of women and empower them financially when elected as governor in the off-circle election.”

The 55-year-old politician has earlier made known his intension to introduce fee education in the state if elected into the office.

While primary school pupils and secondary school students will not pay tuition or any other fee to get education, Ajayi said the fee being paid by students in the four tertiary institutions in the state, will be reduced drastically.

Ajayi had also expressed confidence of winning the November 16 election, but dismissed what many had expressed as the power of incumbency which normally is an advantage at elections.

The former House of Representative member, stressed that incumbency can only work where the incumbent government is popular enough, adding that, sitting presidents and governors were unseated in the past, insisting that the case of Ondo won’t be different in the coming election.

Ajayi underscored his assertion by stating that, “the ruling party in Ondo State is so unpopular that, members decamp to the PDP everyday and in large numbers too.

” Power of incumbency won’t work in our state. The election is going to be determined by the People.”

“They have already identified their choice in Agbo and they are not pretending about it either. That’s why you see them decamp daily.,”
