It is indeed puzzling why the NDLEA has not taken action against artists who are openly promoting hard drug use through their music and performances.
The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency needs to know that these artists have a significant influence on their fans, especially the youth, and their actions can have a detrimental impact on society as a whole.
By glamorizing hard drug use, these artists are sending the wrong message to their fans and contributing to the normalization of drug abuse in the society.
If the NDLEA is truly committed to fighting drug abuse, then it is imperative that they take a stand against these musicians who are actively encouraging hard drug use.
However, by turning a blind eye to the ugly actions, the agency is sending a message that drug abuse is acceptable as long as it is done by the so called influencers or artists. This not only undermines the agency’s credibility but also hinders their efforts to combat drug abuse effectively.
It is essential for the NDLEA to recognize the influence that these artists have on society and take proactive measures to address the issue.
NDLEA must prioritize its efforts to combat drug abuse by targeting those who are actively promoting it, especially Nigerian artists who openly smoke on stage and showcase drug use in their music videos.
Meanwhile, by holding these artists accountable for their actions, the agency can send a strong message that drug abuse will not be tolerated in Nigerian society. Only then can we truly make progress in the fight against drug abuse.
